God can do all things according to His character.
6. Interact with the “Questions from kids” Video
7. Pray together
8. Do one or both of the Activities
Activity #1: Decoration Sensation
Directions
Provide your children with three craft sticks and two six- inch lengths of yarn or twine each. Help your kids cut one craft stick in half to use as a cross piece on the other two full-size sticks. Use a dab of glue to stick the pieces together to make two crosses. Then help your kids wrap the yarn over the intersections of the two sticks, leaving enough slack to tie a loop from which the ornament could be hung.
Say
When we think of Christmas, we usually think of Jesus as a baby. But the best part of Christmas is knowing that Jesus did not stay a baby. He grew up. He lived a perfect life and died on the cross to pay for our sin. You made two cross ornaments. You can keep one for yourself and give the other to a friend. When you give the second one away, use it as a chance to share the whole story of the gospel, including Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection!
Activity #2: Peacemakers
Directions
Provide your kids with different scenarios. Ask the kids what it might look like to make peace in each scenario, and invite your kids to role-play the scenarios.
Suggested scenarios:
You have two friends who are upset with each other because one played a mean trick on the other.
Your sibling took your favorite game without asking and lost many of the pieces needed to play it.
New neighbors moved in next door. They have a kid about your age, but she doesn’t know Jesus.
Say
Jesus was born to bring peace between God and people. When we believe that Jesus is God’s Son who died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day to conquer death, God forgives our sin and gives us eternal life with Him. As people who experience peace with God, we can also work to help people experience peace with others and with God. We do this by sharing God’s love and telling people about Jesus.
EXTRA TIPS
If your grade-schooler is in First or Second Grade, start the morning working on the coloring sheet and activity page.
As time permits, do one activity before the Bible Story Video and one activity afterward, to help reinforce the message.
If your grade-schooler is in Third, Fourth, or Fifth Grade, download and print the Older Kid Journal Page for them to work on at the end of the lesson
