6. Interact with the “Questions from kids” Video

Activity #1: Story Illustrators
Directions
Provide each of your children a large sheet of paper each, and let them share crayons or markers and pencils. Assign each of your kids a different part of the story and ask them to draw pictures of that part of the story.
Suggested assignments:
Joseph’s father loved him most and gave him a beautiful, colored robe
Joseph had dreams about bundles of wheat and the night sky which suggested he would rule over his family
Joseph’s brothers hated Joseph and planned to kill him
Reuben convinced the brothers not to kill Joseph
Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery
The brothers made Jacob believe that Joseph had been killed by wild animals
Say
Joseph’s brothers hated him. When they decided to attack Joseph and sell him as a slave, Joseph probably felt hurt, sad, and angry. Even so, Joseph trusted God. God protected Joseph and had a plan to save Jacob’s family. Through this family, Jesus came to save us all from sin.
Activity #2: Key Passage Activity
Directions
Write each word or phrase of the key passage on a separate index card. Scatter them around your house. Once your children find all the cards, help them arrange the words in the correct order of the verse. Say the key passage together as a family a few times.
Say
Our key passage comes from the Book of Hosea. Hosea was a prophet many years after Joseph lived, but his message pointed the Israelites to the truth that God is their only God and no one else could save them. This key passage also pointed forward to Jesus! Jesus is God the Son, and He alone can save people from their sin.
EXTRA TIPS
If your grade-schooler is in First or Second Grade, start the morning working on the coloring sheet and activity page.
As time permits, do one activity before the Bible Story Video and one activity afterward, to help reinforce the message.
If your grade-schooler is in Third, Fourth, or Fifth Grade, download and print the Older Kid Journal Page for them to work on at the end of the lesson
