  • Construction Paper

  • Old Christmas Cards

  • Manger Scene Stickers

  • Glue

1. Read the Bible Passage | isaiah 9; Luke 2

2. Ask the Big Picture Question:

Is there anything God cannot do?

3. Watch the Bible Story

4. Review the Key Verse

Hosea 13:4b, “You know no God but me, and besides me there is no savior.”

5. Answer the Big Picture Question

God can do all things.

6. Pray together

7. Do one or both of the Activities

Activity #1: Play a Quiet Game

Directions

Form a circle on the floor. Tell your preschoolers that they must sit very quietly without making a sound. You will walk around the outside of the circle and tap the quietest family member on the shoulder. That person will quietly stand up, walk around the circle, and gently tap the quietest family member in the circle. That person will stand up while the other person takes her place in the circle. Continue play as time allows.

Say

That was a very peaceful game. Do we ever say that we want some peace and quiet? We are talking about peace in today’s Bible story, but not that kind of peace. The peace we are talking about is the peace we have with God when we turn from sin and follow Jesus. We do not have to be afraid of God’s anger toward our sin because Jesus took the punishment for our sin. Listen to our Bible story to hear how Jesus brings peace between God and people.

Activity #2: Make Christmas Cards

Directions

Show your preschoolers how to fold construction paper in half to form a card. Provide markers, manger scenes cut from old Christmas cards, glue, or manger scene stickers for your children to decorate their cards with. Ask your child to think of someone they could give their card to. Encourage your kids to dictate a message for you to write on their cards.

Say

We celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas. These cards tell our families and friends that Jesus was born just as God promised! In today’s Bible story, angels told the good news that Jesus was born.

EXTRA TIPS

  • Start the morning working on the coloring sheet and activity page.

  • As time permits, do one activity before the Bible Story Video and one activity afterward, to help reinforce the message.

  • Encourage your preschooler to memorize the Key Verse, Hosea 13:4b.
