Hey Parents!

We wanted to offer a few directions as you navigate leading your preschooler through today’s lesson and activities. Below you will find our Bible passage for the day, a lesson plan for the day, and several other tips that can help you and your child as you study and worship this morning.

Here are the materials you will need for our lesson today:

  • Coloring Supplies

  • Blocks

  • Books

  • Toys

  • Timer (optional)

1. Read the Bible Passage | Genesis 11

2. Ask the Big Picture Question:

Who is God?

3. Watch the Bible Story

4. Review the Key Verse

Colossians 1:16b, “All things were created through him and for him.”

5. Answer the Big Picture Question

God is our Creator and King.

6. Pray together

7. Do one or both of the Activities

Activity #1: Speak in Funny Voices

Directions

Invite your preschoolers to practice saying the key passage or big picture question and answer using funny voices such as the voice of a baby, robot, gorilla, chipmunk, someone who is very happy, someone who is very tired, someone who has a cold, and so forth. Allow your children to suggest different voices to use. Continue as time allows.

Say

Hearing everyone speak in different voices was funny! Even though you used a different voice, I still understood what you said. In today’s Bible story, God mixed up the people’s words. They could not understand what others were saying. Listen to our Bible story to find out why God mixed up their words.

Activity #2: Gather Toys

Directions

Scatter blocks, books, and various toys around the room. Play worship music in the background if you’d like. Invite your kids to gather the scattered objects in a designated place. Scatter the items and play again as time allows. Consider timing how long it takes your preschooler to gather the items. Challenge your children to beat their time each round.

Say

People wanted to build a tower to make themselves famous. God mixed up their language and the people finally spread out over the earth like God had commanded them to do. One day, Jesus will gather all His people in one place. But for now, we are to go the ends of the earth to make God famous everywhere.

EXTRA TIPS

  • Start the morning working on the coloring sheet and activity page.

  • As time permits, do one activity before the Bible Story Video and one activity afterward, to help reinforce the message.

  • Encourage your preschooler to memorize the Key Verse, Colossians 1:16b.
