Hey Parents!

We wanted to offer a few directions as you navigate leading your preschooler through today’s lesson and activities. Below you will find our Bible passage for the day, a lesson plan for the day, and several other tips that can help you and your child as you study and worship this morning.

Here are the materials you will need for our lesson today:

  • Coloring Supplies

  • Masking Tape

1. Read the Bible Passage | Genesis 1

2. Ask the Big Picture Question:

Who is God?

3. Watch the Bible Story

4. Review the Key Verse

Colossians 1:16b, “All things were created through him and for him.”

5. Answer the Big Picture Question

God is our Creator and King.

6. Pray together

7. Do one or both of the Activities

Activity #1: Walk in an Animal Parade

Directions

Form a single-file line. Explain that you will call out the name of an animal. Your preschooler must follow the line leader while pretending to be that animal. When you call out “zoo” your child may pretend to be any animal they choose. Play while periodically changing line leaders.

Say

Did you know that God made all the animals? God made animals that live in the water and animals that fly in the sky. God made animals that live on earth - all different kinds. God is so creative; He made so many different animals! We will hear how God made animals - and everything else - in today’s Bible story.

Activity #2: Make Creation Bracelets

Directions

Wrap a piece of masking tape around your child’s wrist, sticky side out. If weather permits, lead your preschooler outside on a nature walk. If weather does not permit, bring nature items inside and set them around the room for your child to discover. Invite your preschooler to stick nature items to their masking tape to create a nature bracelet. Encourage your children to enjoy the things that God made as they are outside.

Say

All these things you put on your bracelet are things that God made! God made the [items preschoolers placed on bracelet]. God created everything, and it was good. The Bible says everything was created by Jesus and for Jesus. So these things on your bracelet also show how amazing Jesus is! Jesus is Lord over everything.

EXTRA TIPS

  • Start the morning working on the coloring sheet and activity page.

  • As time permits, do one activity before the Bible Story Video and one activity afterward, to help reinforce the message.
